| July 28,
2010 - Susan Salt, president of the board of
directors at Borrego Springs Performing Arts
Center, announced that Jonathan Mittleman has
been named Managing Director for the 2010-2011
season. Russell Webb will be Sound and Lighting
Technician.
Mittleman will coordinate all theater events and
work with the board for artists and outside
organizations using the facility. He is
currently working on a Youth Theater production
of Byrd Baylor’s “Desert Voices”. Kids will
choose an animal and memorize a brief story
about it. “The challenge is that each goes away
to learn about his creature and comes on stage
as that critter. Tough, but fun. And that’s
theater, isn’t it?” He will also direct two
plays this season and he organizes the summer
reader’s theater program. He is a graduate of
San Diego Mesa College’s Theater Arts program
and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New
York. He has spent many years working and
studying in theater and film in San Diego, New
York and Los Angeles. He made a permanent move
from LA to Borrego Springs in the summer of
2007, and immediately became involved with PAC
as both an actor and director.
Russell Webb attended Mesa
College and San Diego State and holds an MA in
Theater Arts from Portland State University. He
has spent over 35 years working with theatrical
sound and lighting, mostly in Connecticut. He
is a talented stage carpenter as well as an
actor. “We are looking forward to working as a
team to bring Borrego Springs an exciting new
season of theater,” says Mittleman. |
